I found When You Were Mine to be a very creative way of telling an old classic, and quite well written despite a slow start. He is a teenage boy, who is quick to drop the girl he claims to care about, in favour of the new hot thing in town. And Rob/ Romeo isn’t the Leo we are so familiar with. She’s a manipulative, spoiled brat, out to get revenge on her cousin, Rose. Well, as it turns out, Juliet Capulet by the name Juliet Caplet ain’t so sweet. ![]() “What’s in a name? That which we call a rose ![]() It was always my favourite of Shakespeare’s plays, I had to read it in grade nine English class, and this is the image that always (happily) enters my mind when I think of it. Because Shakespeare may have gotten the story wrong, but we all still know how it ends… “Įveryone knows the classic love story of Romeo and Juliet. And when rumors start swirling about Juliet’s instability, her neediness, and her threats of suicide, Rose starts to fear not only for Rob’s heart, but also for his life.
